Xiaowandou video causes controversy! ESPN: Mexican Football Association stipulates that discriminatory remarks will be punished
July 24th, former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward Hernandez posted a controversial video on social media, saying that women are erasing masculinity and that women should focus on "reproduction, cleaning and maintaining their families", which caused an uproar in public opinion. ESPN reported that the Mexican Football Association has not taken action on gender-discriminatory speech. Despite the ethics codes that punish members who make offensive or discriminatory remarks, no one has been sanctioned for making misogynistic remarks. Earlier this year, Ricardo Salinas Priego, the owner of the club Mazatlan and Puebla, made harsh remarks against female journalists, but was not punished. Hernandez has not played for the national team since 2019, when it was reported that he organized an unauthorized party in New York after playing against Team USA.
