TA: Villa midfielder Tilemans will miss five weeks of calf injury; Emery suffers another heavy blow

Hupu October 8th TheAthleticUK team reporter Jacob Tanswell's latest report, Aston Villa midfielder Yuri Tillermans is expected to be out for up to five weeks due to a calf injury.

The 28-year-old was injured in a match against Everton on September 13 and has not played in six games since.

Vera's midfielders have been suffering from injuries this season, with Amadu Onana and Bubaka Kamala both missing due to hamstring injuries.

Tillermans started in Villa's four openers this season, making 53 appearances in all competitions last season. Since joining from Leicester City in June 2023, he has made 103 appearances for the club, scoring 8 goals and contributing 18 assists.

Villa has won all of their last four games and will challenge Tottenham Hotspur away in the Premier League on October 19.

Tillermans's reinjury was a blow to both Villa and Emery. Given his importance last season, he won the club’s best player of the season and became an integral part of the team’s offensive strategy, his absence means Villa will continue to rely on other players.

Lamar Bogard and John McKinn are in excellent form. Although Amadou Onana has returned from injury, Tilemans's dispatch is still very important.

He is the most sharp player in Villa's passes, can control the rhythm of the game, and has excellent resistance to stress. He was in a hot state last season and maintained a good condition without injuries for a long time, so it was unfortunate that he started the season with a bad start.
