Monterrey coach: We will use Ramos with caution, he will be the leader in the team s locker room
June 11th According to ESPN, Monterrey coach Domeneke Torent talked about Ramos at a press conference. It is reported that Ramos will play in the upcoming Club World Cup for Monterrey, Mexico, and head coach Torent confirmed the news at a press conference on Tuesday. When talking about Ramos, Torent said: "We must be careful with Ramos because he had suffered a serious injury before and failed to compete in the last game against Toluca. Now he is fully prepared for the next game." It is understood that Ramos, 39, has not played official games for Monterrey due to a muscle injury since April 20, which also made him miss the final game of the season. The 2010 World Cup winner and former Real Madrid legend joined Monterrey in February this year after he has been unemployed since leaving Sevilla in June 2024. Ramos's debut in Monterrey was late, and he finally made only 8 appearances in the 2025 Clausura League and once in the Central and North America and the Caribbean Champions League. After overcoming the injury problem, Torent plans to have Ramos as the leader of the locker room. Speaking about this, Torent said: "Ramos is the leader on the court, which is well known, he has won respect and motivated his teammates, and I see him improving every day. But in the early training we wanted to get him back slowly. Ramos wanted to go all out right away, but we didn't want to lose him again, so we did medical tests to make sure everything was right." Another who will play a key role in the starting lineup of Torent is Spanish player Sergio Canales, who is the core of the team's offense, which has won five domestic league titles. Speaking of Canales, Torent said: "Carnales must be the core player in our tactics, and we need to find the best position for him. He is a player who can score goals, assist and control the rhythm of the game."
