The power bank storm has not stopped yet, and Romans refunds are ranked 170,000
There are so many storms in power banks recently. The Shenzhen Market Supervision Bureau of Guangdong Province issued an announcement on June 16 that Shenzhen Romes Technology Co., Ltd. recalled three models of power banks manufactured from June 5, 2023 to July 31, 2024, with a total of 22 batches, totaling 491,745 units. On June 20, Anker Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. issued a product announcement, recalling 7 models of power banks, with production dates from May 2024 to February 2025, with a total number of recalls of 712,964 pieces. The reasons for the recall of power banks of the two companies are basically the same, both because of battery cell problems. Since metal foreign matter is mixed in the battery during production, there is a safety hazard of product overheating or even burning after multiple charges and discharges. Romans is due to some upstream battery cells incoming materials, while Anker Innovation is because battery cells suppliers privately change the core materials of the battery cells. A few days ago, Romes was clarifying that it had not gone bankrupt, but recently, in the early morning of July 6, Romes urgently issued an announcement announcing that it would stop production and refunds ranked 170,000, which reminds people of the previous incident of ofo small yellow car. As a brand that once had a great success in the power bank market, Romes's experience is sad and also sounds the alarm for the entire industry. Founded in 2012, Romes has quickly occupied the market with its low-price strategy in the past decade, ranking first in Tmall Double 11 mobile power supply category sales for 11 consecutive years, and its products are well-sold at home and abroad. However, the suspension of work and production completely exposed the long-hidden problems of Romans to the public's view. Although Romans' loneliness this time had certain behaviors, Romans' negligence was to blame for this point. From the perspective of product quality, as early as 2019, a spontaneous combustion of Romes power banks occurred in Foshan, Guangdong, and the 490,000 power banks recalled this time further exposed Romes' weakness in quality management and compliance. The long-term pursuit of low-price strategies has neglected product quality and supply chain supervision. In this way, shutdowns and production seem to be an inevitable result. However, this series of events not only sounds a wake-up call for manufacturers, but also for consumers and the entire power bank industry. I hope that in the future, enterprises will still take quality as the top priority and ensure the quality of products. Only by putting quality first is the longer-term basis for enterprises to go. Here I remind everyone to hurry up and see if your power bank is within the scope of the recall. And if there is no 3C mandatory certification on your power bank now, it is recommended to use it carefully in the future. The Civil Aviation Administration no longer allows you to carry it on the plane, and the follow-up may become more and more stringent.
