Conflict broke out! TA: Vinicius told Real Madrid that he did not want to renew his contract due to his relationship with Alonso
Hupu reported on November 24 that according to TA Real Madrid and team reporter Mario Cortegana, the reporter updated the contract renewal status of Brazilian forward Vinicius and the club. Vinicius Junior has reportedly told Real Madrid that he is unwilling to renew his contract as long as the relationship between him and coach Xabi Alonso remains so tense. According to three sources familiar with the meeting, the news was conveyed in a conversation between Vinicius and Real Madrid president Florentino late last month. Like all sources consulted for this article, they requested anonymity to protect their relationships. Vinicius's contract will expire at the end of June 2027. Negotiations for a contract extension were launched in January but stalled after the two sides failed to reach an agreement. After Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 in the El Clasico on October 26, Vinicius apologized to Florentino for his behavior in the game. After being replaced by Alonso in the 72nd minute, he reacted angrily, rushing off the field and shouting: "It's always me, I'm leaving the team, it's better if I leave, I leave." In that meeting, Vinicius' future was also discussed. He made it clear that due to his relationship with Alonso, he felt that renewing the contract was not the best option for him. That position has not changed since. Sources close to the Brazilian player have repeatedly revealed to "The Athletic" his concerns about Alonso, who succeeded Ancelotti as head coach in May this year. The first three months of the new season saw tensions rising. It is now a hotly debated topic both inside and outside the club. The source of these tensions can be traced back to Real Madrid's 0-4 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semifinals on July 9. Alonso originally planned to use Vinicius as a substitute in that game, but Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury eventually forced him to change his plans and the Brazilian was able to start - albeit on the right wing rather than his preferred left-wing position. Since then, he has played only five of Real Madrid's 17 games in all competitions so far this season, coming on as a substitute four times, including last Sunday's 2-2 draw with Elche. Vinicius felt Alonso had treated him unfairly, and when he posted an apology on social media following the outburst after the game against Barcelona, he did not mention the manager by name, although he singled out several people, including Perez. Sources close to Vinicius said that this was his intention. This caused widespread surprise within the club, including among the coaching staff, as Alonso was present when the Brazilian apologized to the team in person at Real Madrid's training ground. Alonso has spoken about his relationship with Vinicius many times in press conferences this season. He has always stressed that there are no personal issues between the two and that the rotation is important to the team. Alonso has often expressed frustration with the ongoing drama surrounding the situation in recent weeks.
