Alcaraz and Sinner can rematch in the Davis Cup final
The draw results in Bologna on September 19 brought Italy to meet Austria in the quarterfinals. With an outstanding squad, including two players in the top 10, Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, Italy is not expected to face many difficulties. Austria was shocked when they defeated the seeded team Canada in the first round, then won against Hungary in the second round. But in terms of class, they do not have any tennis players who can counterbalance Italy when the person with the best ranking, Filip Misolic, is only ranked 92nd in the world. Italy has been the champion for the last two years, when the tournament was held in Malaga. This year, the Davis Cup taking place in Bologna is considered an advantage for Sinner and his teammates. Waiting for them in the semi-finals is likely to be France, the team will meet Belgium in the remaining quarter-final match of the upper bracket. France has names like Ugo Humbert, Arthur Fils, Arthur Rinderknech and Adrian Mannarino. Their two doubles players are also highly rated, Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Nicolas Mahut. In addition, France has reserve options such as Gael Monfils, Arthur Cazaux and Alexander Muller. In the lower bracket, Spain is not a bright candidate for the final, despite possessing the number one tennis player in the world. Alcaraz and his teammates will play Czech Republic - a team that owns strong players like Jiri Lehecka, Tomas Machac and Jakub Mensik. Two Czech doubles players are also among the top in the world, Adam Pavlasek and Maxim Mrva. In addition to Alcaraz, Spain only has Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the top 20. Jaume Munar has improved recently and is ranked 37th. Veteran Roberto Bautista-Agut has fallen to 48th place, while Pedro Martinez (67) is the remaining member of the Gaur team in the top 100. In doubles, for many years Spain has only relied on Marcel Granollers, who is ranked sixth in the world. However, their biggest problem is that no one is truly excellent when paired with Granollers. The thin force makes Spain's progression into doubt, although Alcaraz will probably win every singles match he is given.. Last year, Alcaraz won the singles match, but he and his teammates were still defeated 2-1 by the Netherlands, when Rafael Nadal lost to Botic van de Zandschulp, and Alcaraz and Granollers lost the doubles match. The other brightest candidate in the lower bracket is Germany, a team that possesses many excellent individuals such as Alexander Zverev, Daniel Altmaier, Jan-Lennard Struff, Yannick Hanfmann and the Kevin Krawietz/Tim Puetz pair, one of the strongest pairs in the world. Germany's first challenge in the finals will be Argentina - an opponent that is not strong on indoor hard courts, but has two good players, Francisco Cerundolo and Horacio Zeballos. 8 teams participating in the Davis Cup finals will compete from November 18-23, in the form of two singles matches and one doubles match.
