Tottenham Hotspur renews contract midfielder Uruguay international is an important contributor to the Europa League championship

Premier League powerhouse Tottenham Hotspur officially announced that it has renewed its long-term contract with Uruguay international and main midfielder Bentancur. Although he suffered injuries to the ACL and ankle after joining, Juventus' old player who has returned from injury has once again become the main midfielder under Tottenham's new coach Frank.

Tottenham Hotspur's official website did not disclose the specific length of Bentancur's contract renewal. Regarding the Uruguay international's contract renewal, head coach Frank said: "I am very happy that Rodrigo has entrusted the future to the club. This reflects his recognition of the club's development plan and also marks that we are embarking on a new journey worth looking forward to. Rodrigo is a crucial part of this journey - he is the core of the midfield who can control the rhythm of the game and consolidate the team system, and has the multiple abilities to break into the penalty area to create opportunities and score goals."

Bentancur himself said: "I feel very good and I am very happy to continue to write a new story with this extraordinary club. My family has a happy life, and I have excellent teammates and close friends who work hard every day. I love this club and feel very comfortable here. Winning the UEFA Cup is a fantastic moment, and we hope to win more trophys on this basis. We welcome the new head coach and new captain, and I look forward to spending more wonderful years in the club."

Bentankur joined Tottenham Hotspur from Juventus for 19 million euros during the winter transfer period in 2022. Despite experiencing serious injuries from an ACL, he is still an indispensable midfielder for the team. He played in 122 games, contributed 9 goals and 8 assists, and was an important contributor to the team's winning of the Europa League last season.
