Nottingham Forest questioned Crystal Palace s UEFA Cup qualification, UEFA faces key ruling

Recommended Network, June 10: Eligibility for UEFA Cup has caused controversy, Nottingham Forest questioned the ownership compliance of Crystal Palace

According to Sky Sports, Nottingham Forest Club has sent a letter to UEFA, questioning that Crystal Palace may have violated UEFA's multi-club ownership rules. This incident has attracted widespread attention and involves key issues in qualifying for the UEFA Cup.

Nottingham Forest's concerns stem from the equity structure of Crystal Palace. It is reported that American businessman John Texto holds nearly 30% of the shares of Crystal Palace, and he also owns part of the equity of Ligue 1 club Lyon, which has been qualified for the Europa League. According to UEFA regulations, the same owner cannot control multiple clubs participating in European wars at the same time to avoid conflicts of interest.

However, Crystal Palace argued that the club's operational decisions were handled by executive chairman Steve Parish and Texto was not directly involved in the management. In addition, Texto has proposed to resign as director of Crystal Palace to avoid potential conflicts of interest. But Nottingham Forest pointed out that Crystal Palace may have missed the deadline set by UEFA to complete the change.

This dispute may trigger a legal battle. UEFA will make a decision in the next three weeks, and the draw in the UEFA Cup league stage will not take place until August 29. Nottingham Forest was forced to participate in the UEFA United play-offs because Crystal Palace qualified for the FA Cup championship, which also intensified their concerns about the issue.
