His transfer fee was only 60,000 pounds and became a laughing stock, but he played for Everton for 17 years and became a legend.
The Celtics have tried and Birmingham City has shown interest in him, but Everton has taken the lead in signing him and paid the now-known transfer fee of £60,000.
Of course, due to various terms, Coleman's actual transaction fees are far more than this number, but compared with the current transfers that cost tens of millions or even over 100 million euros, Coleman's net worth is only a drop in the ocean. The process of this incident is another example of "no coincidence can be made".
Cook signed a midfielder named Sean Doherty for the Sligo Rangers, whose father happened to be the lead scout for David Moyes and Everton.
"It seemed like everything went well for Coleman," Dorian added, "of course, he put in a lot of effort for it."
Get a foothold and became the legendary
Issue Everton in January 2009, and nine months later, he made his debut in the Europa League against Benfica, with star players like Di Maria and Saviola in the opponents. The
0:5 defeat left him with a severe test, but a few days later, he got the opportunity to show his strength again.
Coleman came on as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur and made his Premier League debut. He used an assist to help Everton tie his strong opponent 2:2 and was elected the best player of the game.
Dorian said: "Sometimes I sit there and think that the young guy was still playing for me three years ago, and now I can only watch him shine in the Premier League on TV."
"At that time, if you told me that he would play in the Premier League now at Everton, I would definitely shake my head and say no. It's not disrespectful to him, he himself would say it's just a wonderful and great story."
Pierce and Coleman are still friends, and he said Coleman is still the modest man from Donegal County, just like they did when they met many years ago.
"I like to joke with him now, call him 'big guy' and say 'you changed'."
"But the fact is that he has not changed. I don't think his family or friends will make him change--at least I won't."
Will he be a coach in the future?
Coleman has made more than 400 appearances for Everton, and now his career is coming to an end, but his status as an Everton legend is unbreakable.
He was not smooth sailing. He suffered a broken leg while representing Ireland in the 2016 European Cup, which even threatened his career.
But, just like he was eliminated many times before, he cheered up again.
In 2019, Coleman was appointed Captain Everton. Despite injuries and age in recent years, his influence in Everton remains the same.
When Sean Dyche left before the FA Cup match against Petersburg United in January 2025, Coleman and Leiden Baynes were tasked with directing the team on the sidelines.
Dorian believes Coleman may end up being a football coach, but he feels his strength lies in management rather than skills.
"You can even see that he can inspire everyone around him without playing for Everton or the Irish national team. This mentality comes from the heart, from his family."
Coleman's story is a story about a perseverance and how to make the most of the opportunities encountered.
"When you were seventeen or eighteen years old and still playing football in the small fishing village of Kilibeggs, no one thought you would be the captain of Everton and Ireland," Pierce said. He also said that he wouldn't be surprised if Coleman picked up Gaelic football again after retirement.
"This is a crazy story, but Coleman deserves success."
