Guardiola coaches Manchester City in 9 seasons to win the Premier League with the most points, wins, goals and wins in the same period
On May 29, Manchester City ended the 2024-25 Premier League season with third place. The club officially released statistics, summarizing Guardiola's Premier League report card since coaching Manchester City. This season is Guardiola's ninth season in coaching Manchester City. During this period, the team won six championships and led the team to an astonishing 787 points, 46 more points than Liverpool, who was second-placed. Arsenal and Chelsea are the only two other teams with more than 600 points, while Manchester United, Tottenham, Everton, West Ham and Crystal Palace are other clubs that have always been in the Premier League during the same period. Since the summer of 2016, Manchester City has played 342 games in the Premier League, averaging 2.3 points per game, and an average of 87.4 points per season in nine seasons. A total of 246 wins were won, with a winning rate of 72%, with 25 more wins than Liverpool, the second-placed one, and more than 50 more than Arsenal and Chelsea. At the same time, the draws were the least, with only 49 games. Losing 47 games, second only to Liverpool's 43 games. During Guardiola's coaching, Manchester City scored 827 goals in the Premier League, 82 more goals than Liverpool and nearly 200 more goals than Arsenal. He conceded only 293 goals on the defensive end, 29 goals less than Liverpool and nearly 100 goals less than Arsenal and Chelsea. There are 534 goals, 121 more than Liverpool, almost twice as many goals as Arsenal. In England's top league history, only Ferguson won more than Guardiola, who tied Villa's meritorious coach George Ramsey (six times between 1894 and 1910) and Liverpool's Bob Paisley (six times between 1976 and 1983). From the 2020-21 season to the 2023-24 season, Manchester City achieved four consecutive Premier League championships, setting the longest record for the top league championship in English football history. In the Premier League era, only Ferguson, Wenger and Moyes surpassed Guardiola's victory, but Guardiola's winning rate is higher than that of them. Guardiola set a Premier League record with 100 points when he won the Premier League championship for the first time in 2017-18, 19 points higher than Manchester United's second place in that season. In the next 2018-19 season, Manchester City narrowly defeated Liverpool by 98 points and defended the champion. In the 2020-21 season, Manchester City led Manchester United by 12 points and won the championship again. In the following season, Manchester City and Liverpool competed again until the final round before they decided to win and finally won the championship with one point advantage. In these nine seasons, Manchester City achieved 146 clean sheets, with Liverpool following closely behind with 135 games. The team draws can be cleaned every 2.3 games, with 122 of which Ederson contributed, and Ortega has won six cleaned in his 25 Premier League games. Haaland and Sterling tied for the Premier League top scorers during Guardiola's coaching period. They each scored 85 goals, of which Haaland only spent 97 games. De Bruyne's 119 Premier League assists in his career were given 109 after Guardiola coached. He is undoubtedly the most creative player in the Premier League, with Salah ranked second with 86 times. De Bruyne ranks second in the Premier League's historical assists list, 43 fewer than Giggs, the top spot, but also 344 fewer appearances. Ederson is the player with the most appearances in the Premier League under Guardiola, with a total of 276 times, followed by B and De Bruyne, 260 games in 266 games respectively. These three men, together with Foden, Stones and Walker, became players who participated in Guardiola's six Premier League championships throughout the whole process.
