Warriors head coach Cole attributes his success to Curry and enthusiastically praises the greatness of the Warriors superstar

The 2024-25 season is the 11th season with coach Steve Cole and Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry. Cole turned down a coaching position with the New York Knicks in 2014, and he and Curry and his team established a dynasty in the NBA. The Warriors are looking for the fifth championship in the Cole Curry era next season.

In the latest episode of the Glue Guys Podcast, Cole talked about his collaboration with the two-time NBA MVP:

"Without Stephen (Curry), I would have stayed somewhere else like other NBA coaches. I was very lucky to be working with Curry. He provided the organization with stability and continuity to make everyone's job easier." In 2014, Phil Jackson, a legend who coached Steve Cole in Chicago, invited him to coach the New York Knicks. Jackson hopes that a practitioner of triangle offense like Cole can lead the team back on track. The loss of the New York Knicks was a gain for the Golden State Warriors, the former shooting guard brought his talent to San Francisco.

Earlier this year, on the "Willard and Deebs" TV show, Cole said he would be "fired" by the Knicks within two weeks. He said he would have seen himself on TV if he hadn't decided to coach Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Drummond Green.

Under Steve Cole, the Warriors won the 2015 NBA championship and added three more titles by 2022. For years, the coach has credited Curry with his success. Steve Cole said Stephen Curry's teammates paid tribute to the Warriors' superstars at a critical moment in the Olympics. The partnership between Steve Cole and Stephen Curry continued to the 2024 Paris Olympics. After U.S. basketball appointed successor to Golden State Warriors head coach Greg Popovich, Cole immediately invited his Warriors point guard to his Olympic debut.

Cole brought a lineup including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Jason Tatum and others, making them popular candidates for gold medals. Despite the star-studded lineup, the team almost lost to the host France in the championship game.

Steve Cole talks about the people the team admires at critical moments of the game on the blog "Glue Guys Podcast":

"First of all, I call him Stephen King Curry. This is the first thing you think of when you see him doing things. In a team with some of the greatest players in history, they respect him!"

In the game against France, Stephen Curry hit multiple key three-pointers at the end of the game, dragging the team toward the gold medal. Although Cole has been able to see Curry’s heroic feats in the frontcourt for more than a decade, he still revered in his most cherished point guard.
