NBA 2025-26 season opener: team, schedule, date and other key details revealed
NBA announced the schedule for the opening match of the 2025-26 season. ESPN's Shams Charania released two games on X, making fans excited about the regular season in the new season. The Houston Rockets will visit the Paycom Center to hold a championship ring ceremony with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Game 2 is a game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors. Fans will see a classic showdown between Stephen Curry and LeBron James. For the Rockets, after their main squad upgrade, they are expected to be one of the top teams in the league next season. At the beginning of the free market, they traded with the Phoenix Suns and traded to All-Star forward Kevin Durant. The two-time Finals MVP, former Thunder player Durant, will witness the former team's championship flag rise. Durant failed to win the championship while playing for Oklahoma, although they were close to the championship in 2012. However, they faced the Heat led by James, Wade and Bosh. As the schedule is gradually announced, NBA fans can finally look forward to the new season. Shams also released a list of five games for Christmas. Rockets will play against the Lakers, and fans will see a showdown between James Durant. The Warriors will face the Dallas Mavericks, led by top rookie Cooper Flag. The New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers are the only two teams in the East. The defending champion will play against Victor Vinbanyama's San Antonio Spurs at Christmas. Second, the Minnesota Timberwolves will face the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers will play four more games before the NBA opener. The NBA clubs will warm up with friendly matches before things get serious before things get serious. The Los Angeles Lakers have four preseason games before their first game. Grand Palm Springs Acrisure Arena will host the Phoenix Suns at home on October 4. The Lakers will face the Warriors at home in Los Angeles on October 13. Their third game will be against Luka Doncic's old club, the Mavericks. Las Vegas fans will witness the game at the T-Mobile Stadium on October 16.
