Domineering, Warriors head coach Cole hits back against Timberwolves and Finch’s complaint to NBA office
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Cole hit back at Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch in response to complaints from the league office. Golden State Warriors won their first game Tuesday night by defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 99-88. However, something drama happened the next day, as Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch claimed he had filed a complaint with the league office. Steve Cole reportedly responded quickly. Finch claimed he submitted video evidence to the league that the Warriors "grabbed" center Rudy Gobert. The Timberwolves head coach publicly criticized the Golden State Warriors' performance in Game 1 and seemed dissatisfied with the referee's lack of yelling. When asked about Finch's complaint, Cole claimed he was submitting videotapes to the NBA, too, according to Yahoo Sports' Vincent Goodwell. "Warriors head coach Steve Cole said of Chris Finch's videotape of the Warriors treating Rudy Gobert to the league, saying, 'I'm going to submit my videotape to the league. Chris has his complaints, and I have mine.'" The 59-year-old coach didn't seem to elaborate on which videotapes he was going to submit to the league. Anyway, Cole might just be taunting Finch and probably disagrees with any unnecessary moves in the first game. Especially considering that the Warriors just finished the playoff series with the Houston Rockets, the physical confrontation in that series was extremely fierce. With the second game to start on Thursday night, the intensity of physical confrontation may intensify at any time. This has been anticipated by the ongoing dispute between Gobert and Draymond Green. Given that Stephen Curry has missed Game 2 and may miss several games due to a hamstring strain, the Warriors may have to rely more on physical confrontation. The Warriors are striving to win their fifth championship since the 2014-15 season. The Golden State Warriors last won the championship in the 2021-22 season, when they beat the Boston Celtics in six games. Curry's absence could impact their hopes for the playoffs this season, though the team secured Jimmy Butler through a trade with the Miami Heat before the trade deadline. The Warriors are expected to rely on the experienced striker until Curry returns from injury.
