"This hasn't become a big problem yet, because all signs indicate that Durant will sign some form of early contract renewal in the coming weeks, which will allow him to continue to play for the Rockets for the foreseeable future." Durant has one year left in the current contract, with a salary of about $54.71 million in the 2025-26 season. According to the labor-management agreement, Durant is eligible to sign a two-year, $122 million contract starting from July 7, and six months later, another $124 million will be added to two-year, $124 million. (The contract amount may change as the salary cap increases less than expected). Durant will turn 37 at the end of this month.

In the 2024-25 season, Durant played 62 regular season games for the Suns, averaging 36.5 minutes per game, able to score 26.6 points, 6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.2 blocks, with a shooting percentage of 52.7%, a three-point shooting percentage of 43.0%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 83.9%.
