Podolski: This is basically my last season, but I might want to try again

November 12th: 40-year-old German veteran Podolski announced that he is likely to retire at the end of this season.

Former German international forward Podolski has played for Bayern, Arsenal, Inter Milan and other giants. He currently plays for Shakhtar Zabrze in Poland. Podolski talked about his future in an interview this week. He said: "Basically, yes, this should be my last season."

Currently, Shakhtar Zabrze is at the top of the Polish league, and Podolski has also left a small back door. "If we can achieve a major victory in sports, I may also want to try one last time." Podolski has played 8 times in Shakhtar Zabrze this season, only 1 of which was a start.

Podolski continued: "Even my work off the pitch gives me great joy. I am now 40 years old, so my priorities have changed. The club has involved me in many other areas. I can really make an impact here and also contribute to building some real new things. The West has made a difference. That's why I can imagine that this situation will last longer."

Finally, Podolski said: "I still like to play football, and I like to use my experience to help the young players in the team, so there will be some injuries sometimes."
