Wade expressed his respect for Gasol, believing that he should defeat Kobe and win the 2010 FMVP
According to US sports media F/W reporter Chaitanya Dadwar. After the 2008 season, Kobe won the regular season MVP award, one of the few achievements he has yet to conquer, that is the NBA Finals MVP award. Kobe has made the Finals seven times in his career, winning the award only twice in 2009 and 2010. The Celtics won the championship during the 2008 Finals and Pierce brought home the Finals MVP award, but in the 2009 game, Kobe finally won the first prize of his career. However, when he won the award for the second time, many people felt that he was not worthy of it. Instead, his teammate Gasol should win it. Among these people, Heat legend Wade also thinks so. "A lot of people don't know that in that final, in the finals they won, Kobe didn't play well. Kobe's shots weren't good; in fact, everyone thought Gasol should be the MVP. That's how good Gasol played, and Kobe played badly. But when you turn on the TV, you can never see that he was struggling. Because his leadership was always there, his intensity was always there—that fire was always there. So, because he was 8-for-24 on the court or something like that, you can never judge a player like Kobe." When Wade tried to give Alexander a suggestion, he reminded NBA fans that essentially, Kobe's influence on the team won him the 2010 Finals MVP. Kobe deserves the MVP of the 2010 NBA Finals? Gasol averaged 18.6 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists in seven games in the 2010 NBA Finals, shooting 47.8% from the field and 12.9 shots per game. Kobe averaged 28.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists in that series. He shot 40.5% from the floor and averaged 23.3 attempts per game, almost twice as many as Gasol. While those numbers don't seem that bad on paper, Kobe has underperformed in three of seven games. In Game 2, he shot 40% from the floor (8-for-20) and struggled primarily outside the 3-point line, where he made 2-for-7 (28.6%). In Game 3, he shot 34.5% from mid-range (10 of 29) and 1-for-7 from outside the 3-point line (14.3%). And in Game 7 of the final game, Kobe did not have a particularly memorable performance. He made 6 of 24 shots (25%) on the field and didn’t hit one of the six attempts outside the 3-point line. From the facts shown above, do you agree with Wade's point of view that Gasol, not Kobe, should win the 2010 Finals MVP? In my personal opinion, Kobe is still worthy of the Finals MVP. The Celtics focus all their defensive attention on Kobe, which could lead to the argument that if he didn't get people's attention like he did, his teammates wouldn't get a lot of shots they saw. He stood up for the team many times at critical moments, including three 30-point games in the series. While he may not be as efficient as Gasol, he still deserves the award because I can say with certainty that the Lakers wouldn't have won the 2010 Finals without Kobe, but they might have won the championship with another big man instead of Gasol.
