Oden says James may retire as the undisputed greatest player of all time

According to US sports media F/W reporter Nico Martinez, the former No. 1 pick Oden explained why David Robinson is his idol, but admitted that LeBron James might become a clear goat.

Former NBA big man Greg Oden has entered the GOAT topic, and while his personal favorite name may surprise some fans, he also attributes to a more familiar name. Recently, the former No. 1 pick revealed that David Robinson has been his idol growing up, but he believes LeBron James is expected to end his career as the undisputed greatest player of all time.

"My personal greatest ever was David Robinson," Oden said via HoopsHype. "He's my favorite player. This is the person I've watched grow up. This is the person I've wanted to be since I was a kid. But honestly, I don't think there will be more evidence when this guy retires, and that's LeBron James."

Oden's career is one of the biggest assumptions in NBA history. The 7-foot center, who was selected with the No. 1 pick in 2007, is expected to be a star of the Trail Blazers. Unfortunately, Oden's development was derailed by injury, limiting his ability to explode. He played only 105 games in the NBA, a tragic and unfortunate ending of a promising career.

Although Oden has been out of the game since the 2013-14 season, he still often reflects on his time in the league and the many time he has prepared for his advancement at the gym. As a center, it makes sense that Oden admired David Robinson as he grew up. This Spurs legend is everything you want for a big star, well known for his defense, rebounds and inside shots. He averaged 21.1 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game in his career, shooting 51.8% from the field.

However, when it comes to the GOAT debate, Auden cannot deny how powerful LeBron's argument is. While LeBron may not have more rings or MVPs than Michael Jordan (6 championships, 5 MVPs), LeBron does have a 22-year record, including four championships, four MVPs, 21 All-Star appearances and six best-selected teams. With a career score of 42,184 points, James is also the NBA's historical scoring leader.

The question is, what else can LeBron add before calling him a career? Even last season, at the age of 40, he averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, and shot 51.3% from the field. Under his leadership and Doncic, the Lakers have a real chance to challenge the top seed in the West and add another title to his resume. No matter what happens next, you can prove that LeBron’s reason is strong enough to stick with it as it is. He did everything that needed to be done in the basketball world, winning championships from multiple MVPs and three different teams.
