Harell revealed his NBA knot and said he was deceived by the 76ers and was eager to return to the NBA
Former NBA Sixer Montrez Harrell recently visited Brandon Robinson's podcast program, reviewing his ups and downs in his career and bluntly stated that he has not given up his dream of returning to the NBA. In the interview, Harrell rarely bombarded the 76ers, saying that he had been promised to average 15-18 minutes of playing time, but was eventually directly DNP (not activated), causing his trust with then-head coach Doug Rivers to completely break down. Harrell was originally positioned as Embiid's substitute during the 2022-23 season, but in the end he only got sporadic appearance opportunities in garbage time. Harrell averaged just 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in 28 games with the Sixers. He said angrily: "They told me there would be a stable 15-18 minutes, but what happened? I was DNP! I hated that time, which completely destroyed my trust in the team. " This experience gave Harrell a deeper understanding of the cruel reality of the NBA, but he did not give up. After leaving the NBA, Harrell played in the Australian NBL League and the Puerto Rico BSN League. In the nbl, he joined the Sydney Kings, averaging 18.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game, conquering fans in the Southern Hemisphere with his passionate style. Although his overseas experience has rekindled his love for basketball, Harrell made it clear that the NBA is still his ultimate goal. He stressed that he had fully recovered from a knee injury in 2023 and said confidently: "I know my NBA story is far from over, I can still play, I can help a team. " In addition to playing with the NBL in Puerto Rico, Harrell also played in the CBA, and also caused a lot of controversy over the signing issue with Zhejiang, and eventually he joined the Xinjiang team. Harrell played 8 games in the regular season, averaging 12.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per 18.8 minutes per game, and his three shooting percentage was 58.6%/50%/64.5%. He played 5 times in the playoffs, averaging 11.3 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per 17.3 minutes per game, with shooting percentages of 55.9%/three-point 50%/75% respectively in the three events. Harrell's career has been full of ups and downs since he went abroad from the NBA's best sixth man to wandering overseas. Today, at the age of 31, he still aspires to return to the NBA and proves that he still has the ability to compete on the highest level of stage.
