Dezhangtai Murray: Bobo paid out of his own pocket and helped me get my mother shot in the leg in San Antonio

June 19, Pelicans defender Dezhangtai Murray recalled a past with former Spurs coach Popovich in an interview.

Murray recalled: "It was crazy, and many people didn't know about it. When my rookie season, my mother was shot in the leg and coach Popovich actually paid out of his pocket to try to get her to San Antonio. He called my mother himself, and I only found out afterwards."

"At that time, Popovich said to my mother, 'I want you to move here. Not with his money, but with my money.' It sounds like someone who cares about me and loves me, right?"
